Things Have Gotten Weird
Well it goes without saying that these are strange times. Everything is in a holding pattern, There's a global pandemic. The industry has shut down until further notice. It's all pretty unsettling. I've been inside and only making trips out for food. Family is safe and healthy and I pray the same for all of you. In the meantime, I hope that everyone will have the time to rest and reset priorities. Things will never be the same again and I don't think that's a bad thing. It's time to give everyone paid sick leave, universal healthcare, and a living wage. It's time compassion becomes the standard and not a special occurrence. With that, my button for this post is for a charity. Click and support if you can. Take care of yourselves.

Cannes you Believe It?! (I'm so sorry for the pun)
I went to the south of France and saw all the things! Ok, mostly I saw Cannes and Antibe. The Cannes Film Festival is definitely something to be experienced. I spent the majority of my time at the African Pavilion and at the Diversity in Cannes events, both were incredibly inclusive. I was on two panels for the African Pavilion and generally lived my best life for 8 days! Click the link below for an article written by Adesola Thomas, it puts the experience into much more eloquent words than I could.
Pictures and more details are on Instagram @adetinpo_thatsme.

EU 2018
What a lovely experience! Another trip to New York, London, and Italy this year has left me with ample experiences and knowledge.
I had the extreme luck to see Hamilton and Once on This Island on Broadway IN THE SAME DAY. Thank you actual Jesus for that amazing day of art and people of color thriving on the most coveted artistic stage there is. It was extremely inspiring.
Then I was off to London to have a voice lesson with Barbara Houseman. If you EVER have the opportunity to cross paths with this woman, DO IT. The combination of mindfulness and vocal health is a Godsend. I feel reset and rejuvenated. Looking forward to my upcoming singing lessons with the tools that Barbara fine-tuned. Breath support is underrated y'all.
Last but not least, I have decided to sharpen my Italian skills. So, off to Italy I went! I had the chance to go to Rome, Florence, and Milan while speaking mostly Italian with the locals. I'm not bad! Ok, to be honest I cannot conjugate my way out of a brown paper bag BUT I'm learning and getting better. Looking forward to heading back and seeing if my skills can stand the test of time.
P.S. Stay tuned for the release of a web series I just wrapped, #PrettyFunny, written by Melissa Oultan Haas and produced by You42, as well as a short film, written and directed by David Silverman. I'll also be performing in an all female stand-up showcase in the new year. All coming your way in the spring of 2019. In the mean time check out the Instagram feed for #PrettyFunny to catch up on all the shenanigans.

Toronto International Film Festival
What an adventure! I went to TIFF with my sister, Adesola Thomas, and we saw all the things. Not literally of course, that would have been impossible since there were over 300 films shown in a 10 day period. I don't math good but I know that doesn't add up. We did however, have a chance to watch 10 films during our four day stay and it was an experience I'll never forget. I've never been to a film festival before and boy did I pick a starting place. My uncle, Adedayo Thomas, was there representing Nigeria and brought us along as associates. My self as a writer and my sister as a film critic; Adesola writes for her university paper, The Wheel at Emory. While there we watched: The Weekend, Green Book, A Long Days Journey Into Night, Boy Erased, Beautiful Boy, Life Itself, First Man, The Wedding Guest, Widows, and The Hate U Give. I can confidently say that at least half of those films will be up for many an Oscar. SO MUCH amazing work was shown and celebrated during those four days and I am honored to have been a witness to it. I look forward to attending next year and to one day attending not as a film rep but as an artist representing films that I've been in. If you'd like some supplemental information, my sister wrote a four article series of reviews for the films we say. Click the button below for more!

You get a workshop and you get a workshop!
Workshops this month! There are so many good resources in the Atlanta area for actor training and refining. One of my favorites is The Media Room. What is that you ask? Well it's a bi-weekly workout for director and actors to get together and practice their skills and communication and a pressure free environment. It takes place in Decatur and the next one is August 7th. Check it out if so inclined. Let them know I sent you!

Original Contect FTW!
I've been asked to join two different casts by friends who've created original content. I've heard often, especially recently, that it is important to create the content you want to be in. If there aren't roles you like write them, movies you want to see, film them. I totally agree! Unfortunately, I don't write as much as I should but my friends sure do!
The incredibly capable Melissa Oultan-Haas has written a web series that follows a group of young women navigating their artistic careers in Atlanta. Filming begins in August. This project is particularly exciting because the roles were written with the actresses in mind and has a talented and diverse cast. Representation matters guys! I have been looking forward to this project and let me tell you, This script is EVERYTHING. I've laughed, cried, and cringed all in the same episode just reading the thoughtful writing. Stay tuned for this project to hit your bandwidth because you don't want to miss this!
David Silverman is someone I should have mentioned before. He directed the sketches I was in in Orlando at the end of last year. Well, he's at it again folks! This man has written a visceral and haunting reaction to the #metoo movement that will leave you at the edge of your seats. This short film follows two agents and a producer as they sit in a locked room trying to figure out how to balance the scales of justice after sexual assault allegations come to light. Another must see that I am so honored to be apart of. Of course links and info to follow. Film festivals here we come! Check out the IMDB page at the button!

Level up!
I, ADETINPO ADEYINKA THOMAS, WAS CAST IN A MOVIE. How exciting guys! I had a trailer and everything. I did two days on set and it was such a cool experience. I'm so grateful to my agents. The role was perfect for me and everyone seemed pleased with the performance. The movie doesn't come out until next year so I can't say too much about the project but WOW. SO exciting!! Click the button to see the film title on my imdb page.

Stay Tuned!
What an incredible year! Brace yourself for a humble brag: I was on set 18 times this year! I've probably submitted over 60 auditions, gone to 30+ in person sessions, and been in 5 different states. It's all been a blessing. I know next year will be bigger and better. Thank you for following this journey and stay tuned because there's more to see!

Biomechanics, Barbara Houseman & Other EU Travels
At the beginning of August I went to Perugia, Italy to study Biomechanics for a week. It was gorgeous and very hot. Biomechanics is a movement technique that I was introduced to during grad school. I had a lovely time getting to be in a room with other artists moving and learning for 6 six days in Italy. The course can be taken for up to three weeks with housing available. What an experience to be able to strengthen my acting while exploring a new city. Check it out if you can.
After I left Italy, I headed to London and got to take a voice lesson with Barbara Houseman. Guys, this woman is the real deal. I always call her my life coach be fore my voice coach. She will help you find your voice in more ways than one. Also if you find your self in London eat at Nando's and Wagamama, you're welcome in advance.
To be honest, there is never really a perfect time to travel. Money, or time, or convenience will always be an issue in some capacity. If you want to go somewhere JUST GO.

HOBY CT
That concludes another seminar at Connecticut HOBY! HOBY is an organization near and dear to my heart. I have learned to be a leader and have found my confidence in this organization. I had the honor of MCing the seminar the last few years and this past weekend we wrapped up another successful seminar. If you are looking to donate the loose change in your pocket donate to your local seminar. If you are looking for a place to donate your time I offer the same option. I first attended HOBY 12 years ago and have found a reason to volunteer every year since. Give it a try. You wont regret it! For more info on HOBY click the button below.

Always a student
Today I had the honor of working with the great Richard Warner of Arvold Education. Arvold Education makes a trip down to Atlanta multiple times a year and if you have the chance to snag a spot, I highly recommend it. The session was refreshing and it was incredible to work with someone with so much experience as an educator and actor. I left feeling grounded and confident in my work. If you're looking for a class to take, keep up with this group for your next chance to become a stronger actor. FIVE STARS!
